Teens BJJ in Auburn (Ages 13–17)

A real martial art, at the right time

The teenage years are when Jiu-Jitsu starts to click. Teens are strong enough to train properly, old enough to understand the strategy, and at exactly the age when confidence and physical self-respect matter most. Our Teens program bridges the gap between our kids classes and the adult room.

What teens get out of it

Genuine self-defence — Jiu-Jitsu is built on controlling someone bigger and stronger without striking them, which is the most useful thing a teenager can learn for the situations they actually face. Confidence that isn't loud: the calm kind that comes from knowing what you can do. Fitness that doesn't feel like exercise, because an hour of rolling is hard conditioning that nobody has to be nagged into. Discipline and respect — bowing on, shaking hands, training with people of every size and background. And a good crowd: a room full of people with a shared goal beats most of the alternatives.

Anti-bullying, done realistically

We teach teens how to control distance, how to stay calm when someone grabs them, how to take someone down safely and hold them there without hurting them, and — just as importantly — when to walk away. Jiu-Jitsu gives a teenager options other than freezing or swinging.

Safe, structured classes

Our coaches are active competitors with experience in injury rehab and athlete development. Beginners are welcome, and teens train in the same 5:30 PM timeslot as our adult Fundamentals class, so the technique is taught properly from the ground up.
