No-Gi Grappling in Auburn

Jiu-Jitsu without the Gi

No-Gi grappling is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu trained in shorts and a rash guard instead of the traditional Gi. Without sleeves and lapels to grip, the game gets faster, the grips change, and you learn to control your opponent with body position, head control and underhooks rather than cloth. It's the format used in wrestling, MMA and most modern submission grappling competitions.

Who No-Gi classes suit

Gi students who want a faster game — No-Gi sharpens your scrambles, guard retention and transitions. People coming from wrestling or MMA, where the rules and grips will feel familiar. Anyone who prefers training light, with no Gi to wash and no jacket in the Sydney summer. And beginners — you do not need Gi experience first.

What a No-Gi class looks like

Classes run for an hour. We warm up with movement drills, then work a technique of the day — a takedown, a guard pass, a control position or a submission — broken down step by step and drilled with a partner. The class finishes with positional rounds and live rolling, and you're always free to sit a round out.

Our coaches are active competitors with experience in injury rehabilitation and athlete development, so the pace is challenging but the safety rules are strict. Taps are respected immediately. Nobody is expected to earn their way through getting hurt.

When we train No-Gi

No-Gi runs Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30–8:30 PM. Our full timetable also includes Gi Jiu-Jitsu and strength and conditioning throughout the week.
