FUNDAMENTALS BJJ
MONDAY - FRIDAY
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Beginner BJJ in Auburn
Your first step into Jiu-Jitsu
Fundamentals is where every adult at Westside Jiu-Jitsu Club starts. It's built for complete beginners: no fitness required, no experience required, and nobody expects you to know anything on day one. The whole class is new people and people who were new a few months ago, so you'll fit in from the first night.
What you'll learn
The core of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, taught in order. How to fall and get up safely. The main positions — guard, mount, side control, back control — and how to escape each one. Basic sweeps, takedowns and the first submissions, with the details that make them work against someone bigger. Everything follows a curriculum, so each week builds on the last instead of jumping around.
How a class runs
An hour, Monday to Friday at 5:30 PM. Warm-up with movement drills, then one technique broken down step by step and drilled with a partner. We finish with light, controlled positional training so you can try the technique against a bit of resistance. You can sit out any round, any time.
Who it's for
Adults who want to learn real self-defence that doesn't rely on size or strength. People who want to get fit without a treadmill — an hour of Jiu-Jitsu is serious conditioning. Anyone who's been thinking about trying a martial art for years and never did. Teens aged 13–17 train in this same timeslot in our Teens program.
Coaching
Classes are led by experienced coaches and active competitors with experience in injury rehab and athlete development. Taps are respected instantly and the safety rules are strict.
First class is free
